Trans Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider continues winning streak in race to shatter show’s record

Jeopardy! contestant Amy Schneider continued her incredible winning streak on the hit quiz show, surpassing former contestant Matt Amodio’s incredible 38-game winning streak.
Only Ken Jenning’s mind-blowing 74-game record of consecutive wins is left before the transgender woman could take the throne as the longest-reigning champion.
Jennings, who has shared hosting duties with actor Mayim Bialik, could potentially be hosting for any potential record-breaking episode if Schneider’s winning streak continues.
An engineering manager, Schneider has given the correct response 95% of the time when she has answered. She’s nailed 86% of the Daily Double clues that give contestants potentially bigger prize amounts.
Earlier this year, she became the first woman to break a million dollars in winnings. So far she has amassed a staggering $1.3 million.
“It feels amazing, it feels strange,” the out trans woman said after breaking the record. “It’s not a sum of money I ever anticipated would be associated with my name.”
Schneider has been on the show since November 17, when she won during Trans Awareness Week, and she has proven victorious in every episode to air since.
She recently shared a heartwarming story about how her role on the game show helped an 83-year-old man become more accepting of trans people.
“So someone wrote on Twitter, somehow, after two to three years of conversation, you being on Jeopardy! every night has taught my dad to be accepting of trans people,” she explained. “You’re the first person he’s used correct pronouns with, an 83-year-old man saying, this isn’t too hard. Thanks for your message of love.”
Schneider said it was “just one of the best things I could hear” and that helping people is “what I want to do most of all.”
