Internet celebrates Lauren Boebert’s likely election loss as she finally returns to Twitter

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is just 64 votes behind Democratic challenger Adam Frisch this morning in the race to represent Colorado’s Third Congressional District, leading some to believe that the state’s recount law will be triggered, drawing out the process.
Meanwhile, the internet is celebrating the possibility that Boebert will get the boot.
With 99% of precincts reporting, Boebert has 49.99% of votes and Frisch has 50.01%, trailing by a mere 64 votes. The race is still considered too close to call, two days after the election was held.

NPR notes that Colorado requires a recount in any election in the state that is within 0.5% of votes. With so few votes left to count, it’s unlikely either Boebert or Frisch will pull ahead far enough to avoid the recount.
Boebert herself was uncharacteristically silent on Twitter these past several days. On Tuesday evening, she tweeted that the “red wave has begun” but then didn’t write anything else until Thursday morning, causing some people to wonder what happened to the normally social media-obsessed Congresswoman.
This morning, she wrote “Good morning! Jesus is Lord” and then posted a meme showing her impatience regarding the results of her election.

While waiting for definitive results, people have been celebrating the possible downfall of one of the most virulently anti-LGBTQ members of Congress. Her loss would be considered an upset by many, even though polling leading up to the election showed that the race was much closer than many people would expect.

Since she was elected in 2020, Boebert has earned her place as one of the most anti-LGBTQ members of Congress.
She led a press conference outside the Capitol when Congress was voting on the Equality Act, where she went on an unhinged rant full of fake claims about transgender pre-teens and told reporters she is raising her sons “to be men” and she is “proud of that.”
“The so-called Equality Act, which we all know is the Democrats using a play on words,” Boebert said during a media appearance this year. “There is nothing about equality in that act. If anything, it’s the supremacy for gays, lesbians, and transves-hikes.”
She also took a brave stance against Spongebob Squarepants being gay. The cartoon character has not come out.
Boebert made fun of Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Rachel Levine, tweeting a photo of the highly accomplished transgender woman with the words, “Welcome to woke medicine, America.”
Last year she mocked Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, after they adopted twin babies, saying that the gay Cabinet secretary “was trying to figure out how to chestfeed” his children.
Frisch campaigned as a moderate Democrat and didn’t make LGBTQ issues central to his campaign.
