Here’s When the Wild New Joe vs. Carole Series Is Premiering
Good news, Tiger King fans – Joe vs. Carole is on its way!
We’ve known about Peacock’s limited series about Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, the stars of Netflix’s viral docuseries Tiger King, for a while, but now we know more than ever, including the series title and release date.
Previously known as Joe Exotic, the Peacock series is now titled Joe vs. Carole, named after its two main characters. Exotic is being played by John Cameron Mitchell, and Baskin is being played by Kate McKinnon. It will debut in March.
We also got a first teaser for the show, which has us even more excited. In the teaser, we get our first looks at the actors as the reality show icons, and things look exactly as wild as we had hoped!
It shows McKinnon’s Baskin researching and digging deep into the deeds and doings of Exotic, while Mitchell’s Exotic plans intimidation tactics. We also get a look at Kyle MacLachlan, who plays Baskin’s husband.
Showrunner Etan Frankel said that “Joe vs. Carole is a wild ride. It’s a fun and rich journey into the story of people who live very extreme lives. When I took on this project a year and a half ago, I found Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin to be utterly fascinating, and this crazy tale about two big cat lovers quickly became an important story for me to tell. I hope that when people watch Joe vs. Carole just maybe they’ll see these people that they thought they knew in a brand-new way.”
“We knew it would take two extraordinary actors to portray these larger-than-life people as the complex, three-dimensional individuals that they are. John Cameron Mitchell is one of the most gifted and thoughtful actors I’ve ever worked with. He cares so deeply about the work, and his performance is breathtaking,” Frankel continued. “And Kate McKinnon is simply remarkable. She is able to make us double over with laughter one moment and then break our hearts the next. It was an absolute thrill to watch these two exceptional actors morph into these roles.”
Joe vs. Carole also stars Kyle MacLachlan, Brian Van Holt, Sam Keeley, Nat Wolf, Marlo Kelly, William Fichtner, Dean Winters, Lex Mayson, and David Wenham. The series will debut in its entirety on Thursday, March 3 streaming on Peacock.
